Shelter Health Services is the only organization in Mecklenburg County that operates a free clinic that specializes in providing healthcare and health education to homeless women and their children. Even though we are located within the Salvation Army's Center of Hope, we are a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and we receive no regular funding from the Salvation Army, United Way, Medicaid, Medicare, or Mecklenburg County.
